Job 26:2-4
"How have you helped him who is without power? How have you saved the arm that has no strength?
How have you counseled one who has no wisdom? And how have you declared sound advice to many?
To whom have you uttered words? And whose spirit came from you?
We are continuing in Job this week. The oldest book of Hebrew poetry. We find Job responding to his friends accusations with a challenge.
Before reading these verses I was meditating on Sunday's sermon. There was a question at the beginning and end...What is your life's work? I was going through the list of my life's work, Helpmate, Mother, Women's Ministry Director... Then I began my reading in Job chapter twenty six, and those questions were added to the first. What is your life's work? Have you helped those who have no power? How have you saved someone who has no strength? How have you counseled someone who does not have God's wisdom in their lives? What kind of advise have you given? Who have you spoke with, and during that interaction whom did you represent?
I know that I need to meditate on these questions. I pray you will to. May God's mercy and grace be upon us. May we extend that mercy and grace to all those we may encounter.
