Genesis 22:9
Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.
In Genesis chapter twenty two Abraham and Sarah have a child named Isaac. Now before Isaac, Abraham had another son by Sarah's bondservant named Ishmael. This was a bit of a hiccup on their part and was not part of God's plan. So bondservant and child were sent away. Here God the father tests Abraham. The Lord commands Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. In obedience Abraham begins his journey to mount Moriah. They get to the very place where the sacrifice is to take place, Abraham has his servants stay back. His son Isaac carries the wood. This is Isaac's own act of obedience. Isaac asked about the lamb for sacrifice. Abraham's response is God will provide.
What faith! What obedience! What submission! During my own tests I look at this example and I know I fail. See the bible doesn't say that Abraham ran around telling everyone that his life was falling apart. No! We know this by the fact that he had his servants stay back. Abraham didn't throw himself a pity party, crying all the way to Mount Moriah. The bible says he got up early and began his journey. Are you a mess during your times of testing? I am! My brain gets so focus on the troubles that I drop the ball in other things. We know that Abraham didn't drop the ball he had everything he needed for the sacrifice. He never lost faith, he did not give up hope, and he did not run away. He knew that God would provide. In Hebrew this phrase is; Jehovah -jireh , or Yahweh -jireh. We know that The Lord rewarded Abraham for passing this test with a sacrificial lamb. God the father continued with His divine plan which included a very alive Isaac.
