Romans 1:14
I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
Through this letter to the church of Philippi, Paul introduces the righteousness of God, revealed in the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was not ashamed of this gospel. For he knew it's power of salvation, for everyone who believes, Jew, Gentile, slave, free, male, and YES female.
Paul was such a tireless evangelist, working all over the world because he believed he had a debt to pay, and he owed the whole world. The Bible tells us that Paul was ready to preach and to serve in Rome, in fact he was ready to preach and serve the whole world, wherever Christ would send him. If that meant he had to suffer, then he was ready to suffer. If that meant he had to do unpleasant work, then he was ready to do unpleasant work. If that meant that he was going to die, then he was ready to die.
Do you know someone like that in your life? Someone whose spiritual honor is to fulfill their debt to Christ? Can you relate to Paul when he says every bit of my life that is of value I owe to the redemption of Jesus Christ? I pray that the Spirit of God works this sense of indebtedness in you and I! How do we begin? I think Oswald Chambers says it best, "quit praying about yourself and be spent for others as the bondslave of Jesus." Like Paul let us pray in boldness, act in obedience, not be ashamed of the gospel, rely on the power of salvation, and never forget where we were when Jesus rescued us.
